Although a very well established and mature neighbourhood, there are newer developments currently at construction stage in the area. The newer environs continue to develop and housing is coming on stream in places such as Ballycullen, Kiltipper west, Oldcourt and Ballyboden.  

Ballycullen is one the largest of these new development areas, with 1,600 new homes to be provided on a phased basis, complete with supporting infrastructure such as schools, community and shopping facilities, as well as public parks. More details of the plan for the area can be found in Ballycullen Local Area Plan (LAP), which is valid until June 2020.
